North Liverpool
Salary:
£40,000 - £50,000 DOE
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days from home, 2 days in office)

About the Role:
Adaptable Recruitment is working in partnership with a successful business based in North Liverpool to recruit a Accounts Payable Manager. This is a key leadership role within the finance team, responsible for overseeing the end-to-end P2P process and leading a team of Accounts Payable Clerks
You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth and efficient payments function while identifying and implementing process improvements. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a blend of operational oversight and hands-on involvement, particularly with Accounts Payable.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team responsible for payments, supplier management, and customer refunds
  • Manage and improve end-to-end procurement and payment workflows, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Oversee invoice approvals, purchase orders, and supplier reconciliations
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all payments, including customer-related refunds
  • Be hands-on with AP processing during busy periods, including invoice posting and payment runs
  • Maintain strong internal controls and regularly review policies and procedures for efficiency
  • Monitor KPIs and produce clear, actionable reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Coach and develop team members, conduct regular 1:1s, and drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve queries, enhance supplier relationships, and streamline operations
  • Identify automation opportunities and support the implementation of new finance technologies
  • Support wider finance and audit processes, including reporting and regulatory compliance


What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience managing and motivating finance teams, ideally within a P2P or AP environment
  • Strong understanding of AP and financial control processes
  • Hands-on and proactive approach to finance operations and problem-solving
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Comfortable leading change, improving systems, and introducing automation
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with finance systems (Sage X3 desirable)
  • Clear communicator with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels
